Recommendation: This topic was reviewed by the California Technology Assessment Forum on June 18, 2008 It was recommended that percutaneous laser disc decompression (laser discectomy) for the treatment of symptomatic lumbar disc prolapse does not meet CTAF TA criteria 2-5 for safety, efficacy and improvement in health outcomes.
