This topic was reviewed by the California Technology Assessment Forum on October 17, 2007. It was recommended that the use of the Merci retriever does not meet Technology Assessment Criteria 2 through 5 for safety, effectiveness and improvement in health outcomes when used to treat acute ischemic stroke.
