Sheila Kean Fifer, Ph.D.

Dr. Fifer is currently Senior Advisor for the Fast Adoption of Significant Technologies Initiative (a program of the New England Healthcare Institute and HealthTech Center of San Francisco) to identify, assess, and support dissemination of emerging technologies with promise for patient outcomes improvement and cost-savings. Dr. Fifer was previously (from 1987 to 1998) President, founder, and Chairman of the Board for the Technology Assessment Group (TAG) with offices in San Francisco, Boston and Oxford, England. The firm conducted clinical outcomes assessment, quality of life, economic, reimbursement, and health policy research for a broad range of clients including managed care companies, international pharmaceutical firms, and diagnostic companies. TAG was acquired by The Lewin Group in 1998, after which Dr. Fifer served as Senior Vice President at The Lewin Group for several years. Dr. Fifer has extensive background in technology assessment and related health services research. She has published nearly fifty original, peer-reviewed publications throughout her career.
