Paul R. Torrens, M.D., M.P.H.Dr. Paul Torrens is Professor of Health Services at the UCLA School of Public Health in Los Angeles. He is also the Director of the Executive MPH Program in Health Services Management and the Co Director of the UCLA Center for Health Services Management. A physician by training, he has had a long career in the two areas of health care management and health care policy. As a health care manager, Dr. Torrens has had many years of direct management experience in hospitals and health organizations of all kinds. He has been associated with a major national accounting/management consulting firm as a consultant for 15 years, and has served on a wide variety of governing boards/boards of directors of hospitals, health care systems, and other health organizations. As a health policy expert, Dr. Torrens has served in numerous advisory and consulting capacities to governmental and non-governmental organizations in all parts of the United States and abroad. His experience abroad includes work in 18 foreign countries as advisor or consultant. Dr. Torrens graduated from the University of San Francisco and received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. He obtained his M.P.H. (Master of Public Health) degree from the Harvard University School of Public Health.
