Metal on Metal Hip Resurfacing as an Alternative to Total Hip Arthroplasty

Recommendation:	After hearing expert testimony and discussion, the CTAF panel discussion leader presented an alternative recommendation. It is recommended that metal on metal hip resurfacing by surgeons who have completed training using FDA-approved devices meets CTAF criteria 1 through 5 as an intervention for degenerative hip disease in appropriate patients younger or <65 who have an active life expectancy of more than 10 to 15 years.
